Just recently completed Amazon SDE VO was successfully obtained, and the overall process went smoothly with a tight rhythm. The interviewers were professional, focusing on the integration of Leadership Principles with coding skills. I took advantage of this opportunity to summarize my experience, hoping it could provide some reference for students preparing for interviews.

The overall cycle is about two months, with a relatively normal pace.
First round: HM Face
The first round of interviews was conducted by Mr. HM, a local older gentleman who appeared serious but professional. He apologized sincerely for the delay of ten minutes and helped me relax somewhat.
Following a ten-minute introduction round, we moved on to the BQ环节. He asked a total of three questions.
- How do you handle conflicts with your team?
- How do you complete a high-pressure project in an emergency?
- Have you ever used GenAI to boost productivity?
For each BQ, he followed up with two to three questions. I had prepared thoroughly using the STAR method, ensuring my logic was clear and details were specific, allowing me to respond confidently. After listening, he nodded frequently. The section on BQs went smoothly.
Coding partThe title is a classic Locker & Package problem (designing a locker system to determine if a package can fit).
After quickly clarifying the key points, I wrote code while explaining my approach and structure. After completing it, the interviewer provided a real-life scenario for follow-up, which I smoothly adjusted my code to and discussed scalability with him. Finally, I verbally provided specific examples and analyzed time complexity during the coding portion, maintaining stability throughout.
Second round
The second round of interviews was conducted by a kind-looking white guy, and an Asian-American "shadow" observer was present.
After a brief introduction session in the first five minutes, he only asked one primary question during the BQ segment, but his follow-ups were very deep.
- Describe a situation where you worked collaboratively with a cross-functional team.
I gave an example of needing other teams to provide Map API for visualizing Tickets. He asked me six to seven follow-up questions, which I broke down using the STAR method. The logic was clear and details were thorough; after he listened, he clearly acknowledged my explanation. While the BQ portion took around 20 minutes, its quality was high.
Coding partThe title is "Meeting Rooms" Series.
First question: Determining if all meetings can be scheduled. I used quicksort with overlap checks, resulting in clean and efficient code. Follow-up: Need to allocate the minimum number of meeting rooms (Meeting Rooms II). I implemented this using a Min-Heap and described another method involving sweep lines. Finally, I actively ran example scenarios and analyzed time/space complexity, delivering a smooth overall performance.
