School: UCSB Offer: 2024 Tiktok Software Engineer New Graduate offer
Company: Tiktok is a short-form social video platform owned by ByteDance.
Tiktok Launched in May 2017, Jitterbug and Tiktok market share in 2019 surpassed that of western social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
Offer Timeline
Early September: inbound code inbound, was inbound for SDE position, but 2 weeks later found out that the company was more chaotic within the company and it became an MLE position, then rearranged and changed the delivery position; did OA at the end of September, several questions.
October: one side, 1 reverse linked list, and a question like move zeroes;
Early November: second interview, is some domestic interviewer, come up first through the resume, then do the question, two medium: a similar remove k digits, a similar champagne tower;
Mid-November: final interview, including resume + coding + BQ, totaling one hour;
End of November: got the offer, but with the original delivery post has been different, the whole process cross-country, across the group, across the post, more confused.
Challenges encountered
Client's undergraduate degree is in computer science, and he is also interested in doing Data. When he came to us, he was confused about whether to get a job as a Software Engineer directly after graduation or to get a master's degree in Data and then look for a DS position, and he was quite anxious and confused during the summer vacation.
Troubleshooting: After the service began, we did a systematic assessment for Client and conferred and decided to rush SDE for a full-time position in the fall recruiting for his senior year.
We organized the application timeline for Client, the tasks to be completed at each point (brushing up on questions, projects), and arranged for two working Mentors (one from LinkedIn and one from Google).
Systematically work on LeetCode brushing skills, elementary System Design skills, and resume-related BQ skills; Continuously inbound and weekly pitching for positions once fall recruiting begins.
After getting the interview, I conducted Mock Interview and finally got the offer of Tiktok New Graduate Developer Post.

10/05 Direct Push to HM
10/21 Rushed HR to schedule an interview
11/10, I made an appointment with HR call.
11/11 HR call Simply chat about the group and the position, and that afternoon emailed about back-to-back two rounds of VO.
11/13 Round 1 coding (US team): took a variant of LC 210, wrote 25min in 40min, then followed up by asking a few edge cases and optimizing the code;
11/16 second round coding (domestic interviewer): the other side of the general English, the face of the more strenuous, only a test LC 402, write very quickly, there is still a lot of time remaining but did not mention the question again;
On 11/21, I pushed HR and received news that afternoon that I passed both rounds of interviews and had an appointment with HM;
11/27 HM round: asked a dozen regular BQs around the resume, HR said to give final decision this week;
Both rounds of coding were 10+40+10 (intro + LC + Q&A), didn't ask any mobile related questions, and the HM interview lasted about 40min;
I met with the Music team, and HM said that the only HC left in the group is the Android one.
