The first question is Design video streaming platform, which is a mandatory question to design the entire system similar to Netflix.
The focus is on the microservices architecture, with API Gateway doing routing, User Service handling authentication, Content Service managing video metadata, and Streaming Service handling playback requests.CDN is the core, and Netflix uses its own Open Connect, pre-cache popular content to edge servers.
For the second question I chose diff-in-diff (could have also chosen observational study, optimal stopping, one more AB test) and asked:
- explain the concept of diff-in-diff
- How do you use a diff-in-diff to estimate a national level policy shock?
- how do you do placebo test
- How do you cluster standard error?
- What's the level.
2nd round.

System design trivia question: Design a scalable video metadata service Debugging & Optimization: you are given a performance bottleneck function, analyze it and rewrite it, Netflix puts a lot of emphasis on "clarity + programming habits + maintainability" rather than just running the answer. Netflix values "clarity + programming habits + maintainability", not just running out of answers.
Behavioral interview
Very basic questions including work with non tech audience, deal with conflict, etc. Focused around Netflix's Freedom & Responsibility culture.
