I recently completed a full walk with a student. DraftKings had a good experience in the technical process, from OA to four rounds of formal interviews, which was very tightly paced. The participant's background is CS, and he usually brushes a lot of questions and has done a few projects in the system direction. The main purpose of finding us is to improve the "coding rhythm + interview communication logic", after all, although the question types of DraftKings interviews are not tricky, but the pace is fast, the details are dense, and it is easy to get stuck in the small pits if you are not well-prepared.

DraftKings OA Overview

DraftKings' OA is on the HackerRank platform and is similar in style to other US companies:

  • Time: 60min
  • Number of questions: 1 question with multiple parts
  • Difficulty: medium to high

The title is something like "discount validation" Type of question.
The core logic is to keep organizing the hashmap and then do validation checks.
The questions are not difficult, but focus on "boundary handling + clear flow".
We were helping students to write the whole time without bugs, pass rate 100%, the interviewer later also mentioned that their system records are full pass.

One Side Coding (HashMap + Validation)

This round is a continuation of the OA idea, with a variant of the same question: discount validation.
The interviewer is very friendly throughout and will constantly guide you in speaking your thoughts.
The key point that our trainees do exceptionally well is this:

  • Verbalize the logic of hashmap first.
  • Explain "why you're doing this" as you write.
  • Verbal check at the end of each step: e.g. "this part ensures no duplicate discount ID".

The interviewer likes this kind of clear expression, and the follow-up mainly asks:

  • Time complexity and space complexity
  • Is it possible to optimize a pass

On the whole, the first round of coding does not need to pursue fancy techniques, as long as the structure is neat and the communication is smooth.

Second Side Resume Deep Dive

This round is the full deep dive program.
DraftKings' engineering culture is actually quite similar to a product-driven startup, emphasizing "ownership" and "impact".
The interviewer will focus on follow-up questions:

  • What module are you responsible for?
  • What's the challenge?
  • What exactly did you do to fix it?

Just prepare a "Problem - Action - Result" template for this type of problem.
The participant answered very solidly in this round, explaining how to lead refactor and how to deal with cross-group dependencies in his project.

Three-sided OOD (System + Design)

This round was one of the "smoothest" in terms of participant feedback.
The topic is classic "Robot Restaurant" System Design.
Actually, the core test is:

  • entity Classification (Robot, Order, Kitchen, Scheduler)
  • Relationship between classes
  • state flow logic

The interviewer later extended Shopify logistics Related design issues, such as how to handle concurrent orders, task allocation, and retry mechanisms.
Our participant's answer was particularly smooth because he had done supply chain optimization projects before.

Four sides Managerial + Behavioral

This round is manager-led and focuses on 'collaboration mindset'.
Questions include:

  • "Tell me about a conflict with a coworker."
  • "How do you prioritize tasks under pressure?"
  • "What would you do if your idea is challenged?"

Participants summarize one sentence to describe the interview round:

"We're all smart guys, the key is to communicate more and dump less, the impact of collaboration is always greater than individual heroism."

DraftKings emphasizes on communication attitude. The interviewer repeatedly mentioned "we value team-oriented engineers", so try to focus on "collaboration + transparency + priority management" when answering this round.

Professional assistants will help you get through and secure your offer!

Recently, the technical post of DraftKings has started to speed up sending OA again, and many students have been messed up by the rhythm when they come up, either coding timeout, or OOD card ideas. In fact, these are completely controllable issues. Programhelp helped hundreds of students get DraftKings OA and onsite offer, with full-process on-line assistance without traces, from HackerRank real-time time writing to voice synchronization prompting logic to Behavioral interview script optimization, every step can help you steady rhythm, not to lose points.

Whether you're preparing for OA, about to enter the onsite, or want to do a full-flow simulation, we can customize an exclusive program. draftKings, FanDuel, DoorDash, such as high-frequency system questions we have the real review and assist cases.
