Spotify This company, we all know do music streaming media quite cattle, data science positions and involves statistics, SQL, experimental design and so on, the difficulty of the interview in the upper, especially on-line VO, round after round of questions is quite solid. To be honest, if you want to keep from panicking, you have to make solid preparations. Luckily, I had Programhelp's remote voice assistance with me, which helped me sort out my thoughts at critical moments and made me more efficient.

The interview process in a nutshell

A typical Spotify DS VO is done in three rounds, basically an hour each:

  • Round 1: Data Analysis + SQL + Design of Experiments
  • Round 2: Fundamentals of Statistics + Python Programming
  • Round 3: Behavioral facets + machine learning system design

Round 1, Data Analysis + SQL + Design of Experiments

This round was quite a test of business understanding and data skills. I was impressed by one SQL question, which was given a user's listening history, and I had to write out the number of active users and new users per day for the past 7 days. At first, I was a bit confused to write join, but Programhelp reminded me to use CTE to write it step by step, so I was able to straighten out the logic right away.

There was also an experimental design question that asked me to design an A/B test to evaluate a new recommendation algorithm, and the assistants helped me to list the randomized grouping, metric selection, and statistical significance, so that the answer seemed more professional and not hollow.

Round 2, Statistical Inference + Python Programming

This round was more on the technical side. The statistics question asked me to explain the difference between a t-test and a non-parametric test, and the Programhelp voice helped me recall key points to avoid biased answers.

The programming question asked me to count the maximum number of consecutive login days per user in the last 30 days, and I wasn't writing efficiently enough, but my helper reminded me to use a double pointer to slide the window, which instantly improved performance.

Machine Learning Basics also asked how Precision, Recall and F1 differ, and I cited common examples from my life with the help of the assistants, and the interviewer nodded quite a lot.

Round 3, Behavioral Surfaces + System Design

Behaviorally, I was asked how to resolve differences with the team, time management, etc. Programhelp helped me prepare a STAR framework answer template beforehand, and I was reminded by voice on the spot so that I wouldn't go off on a tangent, and my answer would be more concise and powerful.

The system design question asked me to design a music recommendation system, considering real-time, cold-start and so on, the assistants helped me to disassemble the architecture and refine the data flow, and the whole thing was quite clear.

A few tips for preparing for the exam

  • You must be familiar with SQL, and you should know how to use both CTE and window functions, so you don't get confused when the time comes.
  • More review of experimental design and statistics, got to be able to talk about randomized grouping and testing methods.
  • Behavioral surface preparation in advance, or the scene can not think of what to say embarrassing death.
  • Get Programhelp remote assists to help you practice, and someone to help you wake up at card points, efficiently.

With God's help, you won't panic even if the interview is difficult!

Spotify DS VO interviews are not easy, the questions are varied and fast paced online.Programhelp Remote voice assistance helped me stay awake at critical moments, organize my thoughts, and answer more smoothly. For those who want to prepare, Programhelp is highly recommended, reliable and professional, accompanying you all the way through.
